Just as every region, city and town of Italy has its own personal type of Amaro, Bitter Herbal Liqueurs are prevalent throughout Central Europe with the best known being Jägermeister. Jager got a bad rap starting back in the 80's, after being marketed to college kids in so-called Jagerbombs. Tasting it now, it tastes like an Amaro, but the USA was not ready for something with both bitter and sweet flavors. Absolut Citron it is not. Fast Forward to present times and Amaro has been a thing for a minute, while other Eastern European Bitters, like Zwack's Unicum, among others, have found a following, so here comes the Lugermeister from Faccia Brutto and Peter Lugers. Classically meant to settle the stomach after a big meal, this would be perfect after a big steak at Peter Lugers, with a light freshness that belies its 30% abv. Stellar!!
