Staff Pick Notes

An interesting and intriguing wine from a region that fascinates me. The French on the label reflects the cultural overlap of the Italian-French-Swiss border, which is only fifty miles from Château Feuillet. I haven't had a lot of wines from Valle d' Aosta, but I've loved every wine I've tasted from there. This is northwest Italy in the Alps - almost in Switzerland. It's mountain wine. High altitude, which means cool climate. Fumin is the leading grape, with a splash of Syrah. It has deep purple color and concentration of fruit, yet is surprisingly light and refreshing on the palate. Vibrant, crunchy fruit - blackberries and dried black cherries, with a hint of black pepper. It's edgy and bright - a racey red with firm, yet juicy tannins. Delightful to sip on and will pair well with the entire menu...
