A sweet and sparkling red dessert wine that's light in alcohol. Made from hillside planted Malvasia di Casorzo grapes which were hand-harvested and then fermented in tank. Aromatic and perfumed on the palate and ideal with a fruit salad or even as the palate cleanser before the dessert course makes an appearance.

My hot take is that we should all be drinking more sparkling dessert wines. Sorry, but what could be more refreshing? This one's got less alcohol in it than most beers, less sugar than most soda (keep in mind how much you're consuming relatively), and it's absolutely delicious. My tasting group all agreed that it's reminiscent of Dr. Brown's black cherry soda, only livelier, deeper-flavored, and more balanced (in a way that, of course, only wine can be). If you like Lambrusco, this is for you. Try opening up a bottle after a meal and watch everyone's eyes light up - it's a killer palate cleanser. Even your most skeptical, wine-snobbiest friends will appreciate that this wine is made from a red mutation of the Malvasia grape, found only in this corner of Piedmont!

Piedmont

The most famous grape in Piedmont is the noble Nebbiolo, which makes the long-lived Barolo and Barbaresco. There are plenty of Nebbiolo-based wines that are quite enjoyable in their youth, however, often produced in smaller, lesser-known regions such as Ghemme or Gattinara.
