Staff Pick Notes

The Sylvanus is a deep golden/tangerine color and possesses a clean, pronounced, absurdly aromatic personality. Medium-bodied with moderate alcohol and juicy acidity, flavors and aromas burst from the glass and on your palate and include apricots, tangerines, grapefruit and quince along with minerals and flowers like honeysuckle, magnolia and nasturtium. Juicy, tangy and alive with a long gratifying almost spicy and saline finish, this is a delicious skin-fermented wine that pairs well with a wide variety of foods such as local oysters, roasted whole Porgy, clam and bacon pizza, and, of course, confit of Long Island duck. There are ethereal qualities to this wine and its satisfying ripeness, pronounced aromatics and swelling textures encompass the paradoxical qualities of aromatic lift, lightness and fleshy weight.

No longer is our fair state synonymous with Concord grapes and Manischewitz; look for brilliant iterations of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Cabernet Franc,...

The pink-skinned Gewürztraminer does best in cooler climates, which allow the grapes to develop good balancing acidity. This is a necessary attribute of any...

Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio is an Italian synonym for the French Pinot Gris variety, but many more people have had Pinot Grigio than a Pinot Gris. At its most basic level, the grape produces varietals that are smooth and easy to drink, and perfect with a huge range of dishes that just beg to be paired with a fresh white wine. There is an entire spectrum of Pinot Gris/Grigio, however, the best of them being subtly aromatic and deeply colored, with formidable structures. Most of Italy's Pinot Grigio is grown in...
