Staff Pick Notes

A lovely all around Pinot Noir that won't break the bank compared to higher ticket bottlings from Sonoma or Santa Barbara. Calera has and continues to make excellent Pinot Noir from the Central Coast. Josh Jensen, who founded the estate worked in Burgundy prior to setting out on his own venture. Now going on 35+ years the wines have pedigree and are no doubt considered benchmarks for the Central Coast. This is Calera's entry level wine and therefore the juice is quite approachable now. I find a lovely mineral vein running through the perfectly ripe fruit character in the juice that will please fans of Burgundy (like me) and the new world alike. Don't hesitate on this one tonight!

California

California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.
