Malvasía Seco, Los Bermejos - 2025

Finding a complex and textured white that still sings during the Summer is challenging, but not an impossible task! Here is where this Canary Islands Malvasia comes in. Each vine for this indigenous grape is planted through a hole that must penetrate the existing crust of petrified lava with a small wall built around each vine to provide protection from the coastal winds. Harvested all by hand, it's truly a labor of love. Crystal clear minerality and salinity immediately hit you with tropical and stone fruit notes. White peaches, lime zest, and melon come to mind. A slight herbal undertone, I really enjoyed its complexity throughout its long finish. Such a treat to sip and savor before diving into some fatty foods. Give it a spin with some pork tenderloin or grilled shrimp. -DH
