Staff Pick Notes

Erwan Buchwalter spent years working the vineyards in Alsace at Domaine Valentin Zusslin. This is where he learned the principles of biodynamic wine growing. Like many natural vignerons, he maintains that great wine is grown at the vineyard rather than made in the cellar. In 2013, he began his search for his own vineyards. He discovered an old estate in the Village of Lucey of Savoie with high altitudes and limestone clay soils and made the acquisition. This Brut Nature is a reflection of his wine ideas and practices. It is bone dry, and a refreshing dose of minerality, florality, and green apple fruit. The texture is creamy and playful. A must with a triple crème cheese.
