Kanosuke Astor Select Single Cask Single Malt Japanese Whisky - 2020

Our long anticipated first single cask of whisky from Kanosuke is here. With the explosion of interest and activity in Japanese Whisky, we can tell you from our annual travels there and longstanding relationships that no new outfit is making whisky quite as good as they are. There special releases like this one showcase their prowess more than others. Aged for just under 5yrs in a single first fill ex-bourbon barrel, and bottled at a natural cask strength, the powerful bold flavors and full bodied texture of their whisky making style coupled with the affects of the maritime sub-tropical aging cellars built right on the coast next to the distillery deliver a depth to this whisky that is completely unique and unexpected. The special label for this limited one-off release was created in collaboration with Kanosuke and depicts stunning origami cranes clustered around the iconic image of a Japanese rising sun. the image is taken from a 19th Century Japanese painting masterpiece.
