Château de Briat Astor Select 21yr Single Cask Armagnac - 2003

From one of the great, truly regal addresses in all of brandy - the facts alone that this domaine was begun in the mid 1500s by a King at once sound so French and like a fairytale. And, having the relationship we do with the de Luze family, it feels like an honor to be able to taste in their cellar and select the best casks at any given moment each year. This vintage single cask has just past the two decade mark and the complexities of age have marked the brandy in every drop you taste. Brilliant, burnished mahogany in color and overflowing and expressive with a playful mix of tart tatin, summer rhubarb and strawberries, pomegranate, chocolate hazelnut and a streak of spices.
