Cinco Sentidos Cucharilla con Espadin Mezcal - 2024

The first in this brilliantly conceived 'Master & Apprentice' series from Cinco Sentidos - Maestro Alberto Martinez and his long time trrusted apprentice collectively made a batch of wild Cucharilla mixed with old ripe capon espadins in the winter of 2024 letting it rest in glass demi-johns til this summer when they were bottled and sent to the states. You'd never guess this was a first ever attempt at distilling the wild Cucharilla plants that grow porlifically in the area surrounding their palenque, as this is easily one of the best agave spirits we have tasted all year - easily. At times it feels like the plantain leaves, willow and acacia the agaves were cooked with have infused a layered, herbal and tropical bent to this batch that we can't stop thnking about. Very limited.
