Staff Pick Notes

True to the pipeño style, this is a supremely easy-going orange wine made from an aromatic field blend grown in the hills of the Itata Valley. The skin contact is long enough to give a snazzy, citrusy boost without adding too much tannic grip to slow you down. Light, dry and unfiltered, this fun bottle is a no-brainer for hosting. After nearly a decade of négociant winemaking in southern Chile, Louis-Antoine Luyt has moved back to his native France. He still comes down to lend a hand and expertise with harvest and vinification of his wines, not to mention help launch new lines, but has entrusted nearly all responsibilities to the winegrowers by this point, which is why you'll find their names featured prominently on the back label. Hats off to Patricio Martinez for knocking this pipeño out of the park!

Chasselas

A white grape grown all over the world, including Alsace, the Loire, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Italy. The best Chasselas wines, however, are produced in Switzerland, where the grape is called Fendant and is the most widely planted variety in the country. When made well, Chasselas is soft, welcoming and easy to drink.

Blanco

White tequila, an official type (tipo) for tequila bottled fresh from the still, or allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for up to sixty days before bottling. It is never aged in wooden barrels. Also known as plata, plato, and silver tequila. Usually the most robust, strong-flavoured of the tequila types.
