Staff Pick Notes

“We hit the Jackpot!”exclaimed the Runaway Rabbit wine-making team when they first tasted their latest and greatest creation, and boy, did they ever. Luckily for the rest of us, their sharing their winnings. A beautiful watermelon sunset color in the glass, soft tannin and mild floral aromas combine with subtle flavors of golden apple and electric white peach lemonade giving us an effortlessly refreshing wine with a skin-contact complexity that everyone can enjoy. The grapes are from 25-year-old vines in Duck Walk and the white merlot comes to us from Clovis Point. This one’s a post-beach relaxer like no other that paired wonderfully with curry puffs and crispy calamari with red chili and orange gremolata. I’m so glad to see this wine join our Long Island collection and you should definitely check out Runaway Rabbit’s “Chester” as well.

It has one of the most impressive and distinctive textures of any wine, and has long been prized for the "softening" effect it can have on Cabernet Sauvignon - especially...

Pinot Grigio is an Italian synonym for the French Pinot Gris variety, but many more people have had Pinot Grigio than a Pinot Gris. At its most basic level, the grape produces varietals that are smooth and easy to drink, and perfect with a huge range of dishes that just beg to be paired with a fresh white wine. There is an entire spectrum of Pinot Gris/Grigio, however, the best of them being subtly aromatic and deeply colored, with formidable structures. Most of Italy's Pinot Grigio is grown in...
