A family run operation from start to finish including the prized acres of land 4th generation Roberto Lopez Anaya operates to the distillery where they only make their name sake brand and this wonderful blanco. Able to be extra selective when harvesting their agaves, only very ripe, fully mature ones are picked that are then artisanaly produced including masonry oven cooking, tahona crushing, wood and steel fermenters, copper and steel pot distillation and zero additives. Direct and appealing on the palate with notes of bright citrus, fresh honey, and warming pepper - there is not many other tequilas offering this level of quality at this price point currently.

Just as you can't judge a book by its cover, when it comes to wine and spirits, you can't always judge a bottle by its price (or label or name, for that matter). The latest example of that adage is this surprising gem of a blanco tequila from Roberto Lopez Anaya, the 4th generation distiller at Zumbador. And what's not to love--small production, family run, artisanal, additive (and celebrity) free. Authentic tequila as it's meant to be. Smooth and rich with notes of cooked agave, lime and grapefruit. Earthy, slightly peppery undertones add depth, while vanilla and caramel lend a pleasant rounded sweetness. This is delicious enough to sip neat, but also great in cocktails.

Blanco

White tequila, an official type (tipo) for tequila bottled fresh from the still, or allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for up to sixty days before bottling. It is never aged in wooden barrels. Also known as plata, plato, and silver tequila. Usually the most robust, strong-flavoured of the tequila types.
