From a vineyard planted in the 1950s on granite soils. Cinsault is a red grape from the south of France that found its way to this country well over a hundred years ago. The fruit was fermented in whole clusters and then aged in foudre for 14 months before bottling. Only bottled in stellar years.

Cinsault is not a grape that takes center stage very often, let alone as a wine with capacity to age, but winemaker Adi Badenhorst knows it deserves to be on the podium of great South African wines just as much as Syrah does. If you love great Beaujolais, this wine is for you. His single-vineyard Ramnasgras Cinsault is only bottled in the best years, wild-fermented and unfined. A bit of bottle age lends an earthy aroma to what otherwise smells like a bowl of chocolate covered strawberries, a narrative that is further developed on first sip. A whole spectrum of juicy red fruits will dazzle your palate, guided by the most gentle of tannins - are they really even there? - for a silky smooth finish. Fresh, light and full of flavor, this is a gorgeous wine to break out among good company.
