Staff Pick Notes

Look up the definition of picayune and you'll find that it means something petty or of insignificant value. The etymology stems from the Spanish era of rule in the Louisiana territory when the half real or 5-cent coin was commonly used as currency. Sort of ironic, then, that this wine goes by the same name. I'd say it's anything but the aforementioned definition. Picayune is a negociant winery in California, buying fruit from farmers rather than owning vineyards of their own. This allows for more flexibility and variety in their small production wines, but the consistency is always top notch. This Sauvignon Blanc is clean and bright, with balanced flavors and time spent in both stainless steel and neutral barrels for added texture. It's a delightful wine worth every penny.

Some are fermented in barrel, others in stainless steel. Some...
