A sparkling Trebbiano Romagna whose fermentation finished in bottle which explains the cloudy nature of this dry, lightly sparkling (Pét-Nat) white wine. Aromas of brioche and citrus fruit. Tending the vineyards planted by his grandfather, Claudio Ancarani is now at the helm of this small winery located in Torre dell’Oriolo on the soft rolling hills that turn into the mountains of theTuscan-Emilian Appenines near the town of Faenza.

Staff Pick Notes

Sometimes you need a wine to go with white pizza. That is how I first encountered "Indigeno," a refreshing and rustic naturally sparkling Trebbiano. To create this pétillant-naturel, the grapes are pressed and fermentation begins in cement tanks. Developing just enough sugar and yeast to begin a second fermentation the wine is bottled, capped, and joined with a bit of grape juice frozen and held after the harvest. There is zero added yeasts, sugars or sulfites. This wine has a beautifully delicate and pallet cleansing sip, with lovely notes of yellow peach and tart pear. Unlike many pét-nats I have had, it was a pleasure to drink from the moment I opened it. It only got better over the hour it was enjoyed. Will definitely make this choice again to go with a cream sauce or even fondue.
