Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

Item # 37999 750 mL

Four Pillars continues to prove why they have quickly catapulted to the vanguard of the gin world with releases like this. This vintage dated gin liqueur is made with a foundation of their great Rare Dry that is then cold macerated for eight weeks with the highest quality de-stemmed whole berry Yarra Valley shiraz grapes the team can find. Four Pillars likens it to the Saignée method in champagne, hence "bloody." Notes include baked plums, cherry preserves, wild strawberries, pine sap and white pepper. Great for cocktails or on its own with an ice cube.

Staff Pick Notes

Bloody Shiraz? Bloody brilliant! Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin is kind of like a boozier sloe gin, but made with premium Shiraz grapes from the Yarra Valley and no added sugar. The color is natural, from the "saignee" method (bleeding the color from the grapes, hence "Bloody") and may slightly change with age, just as a wine would. Plum, pomegranate and black cherry mingle with white pepper and juniper. The gin is slightly sweet and lends itself well to classic gin cocktails like the Jasmine, Gin Fizz, and a good ol' G&T.

Australia

Australian Shiraz (made from the grape called “Syrah” in other parts of the world) shows the essence of the outback: it’s big, bold, and a little rough around the edges. The vast country leaves lots of room for variation, however, with its many terroirs each yielding distinctively styled wines. The climate of South Australia’s McLaren Vale district is heavily influenced by the ocean; wines here typically show savory notes of olive and spice on the nose and deep berry flavors on the palate....

Victoria

The state of Victoria, adjacent to and southeast of South Australia, is Australia’s third-largest producer of wine. Climatically very varied (its higher-altitude vineyards are the coolest in Australia), Victoria is home to the most diverse assortment of vineyards in Australia, with a particular focus on cooler-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Shiraz production tends to be concentrated in the central viticultural regions of Grampians, Pyrenees, and Heathcote, where the...
