Louis Roque La Vieille Prune Plum Brandy

Item # 35371 750 mL

This little gem hails from the Armagnac region, that special corner in the southwest of France that is arguably the most important place on the planet for brandy production. The Roque family has been transforming one of the regions prized fruits, plums, into irresistibly good old aged brandies since the 19th century. The spirit shows incredible finesse with a supple texture and great purity of fruit accented with shades of spice and the Gascon forest.

Staff Pick Notes

If French plum brandy was a category that we talked about then Distillerie Louis Roque would be the undisputed master in that category. A small, family owned operation that has been passed down from generation to generation, they work with a blend of locally grown Ente, Mirabelle, and Reine-Claude plums (red, yellow, and green varieties, respectively). The plum wine is distilled twice in copper pot stills before resting a minimum of 4 years in Limousine oak. It falls at the intersect of Cognac, Calvados, Slivovitz, Eau de Vie, but remains utterly unique: an endless complexity of allspice, oak, earthy cider, and true purity of dark plum fruit.
