From the Vouvray appellation in the Loire Valley, this 100% chenin blanc originates from multiple contracted vineyards made of limestone, clay and silex. Since Vouvray's appellation rules changed in 2009, this might be one of Francois Chidaine's last bottles to bear the Vouvray Appellation on the label. Although the grapes are grown in Vouvray, Chidaine might lose the appellation as the vinification of the wine is not within the limits of the commune of Vouvray, but in the commune of Montlouis-sur-Loire, on the other bank of the Loire river. This wine is deep, elegant with fine minerality and a pleasant yeasty taste. It could age a bit, but is showing a lot as it is now. Nice substitute to Champagne for a fraction of the price.
