Nero d'Avola, Manenti - 2019

I’ll often search our inventory by vintage to find wines that have had some years in the bottle, and this came up, so I bought it home, and on the first sip, I couldn’t believe how great this wine is for the money. A gorgeous bouquet of vivid red fruit leads to a palate of incredible structure, power and finesse. In the last 20 years has there been a steady return to vine growing in the Cerasuolo area and Gugliemo Manenti belongs to this new generation of winemakers. Gugliemo has adopted the practice of I Vignieri, spearheaded by the enologist Salvo Foti. This philosophy of winemaking is built on traditions of the past: bush (head trained) vines (alberello), exclusive use of native grapes, manual labor, respect for the terrain and the natural cycles of flora and fauna, and minimal or no chemical usage. Sublime, and, lamb chop friendly.
