Staff Pick Notes

The Gallino family has a rich wine making history that spans generations in Ruero, Piedmont. Nebbiolo reigns supreme in this part of the world and this uniquely accessible expression pays homage to the Gallino family patriarch, Felice - known as Licin. The sandy and clay filled soils of Ruero influence a soft and velvety tannic structure that doesn't require the long aging process that is common in the wines of Barolo. Sustainably farmed and hand harvested then fermented in steel tanks and aged for 12 months in large barrels, the Filippo Gallino Roero Licin offers an approachable yet subtly complex profile, with hints of raspberry, blackberry and wild strawberry and a delicate floral and spice bouquet. Light enough to enjoy on it's own and pairs perfectly with cured meats and cheeses. Licin is a welcome gateway to Piedmont Nebbiolo.
