Keuka Lake Vineyards, Dry Riesling - 2021

Item # 27038 750 mL

The key to a good Riesling is finding the balance between delicate minerality and racy acidity. This wine certainly achieves that. It also offers an intensely aromatic nose of licorice wrapped around orange blossom flowers, perfumed ever so and peppered with zesty spice, wet stone minerals, and white peach. Drinking this wine by itself is quite enjoyable, but it can also be paired with spice-grilled pork, goat cheese, and spinach salads.

Staff Pick Notes

Located on the Southern end of the deep, glacier dug Keuka Lake, Keuka Lake Vineyards creates delicious cool climate wines that exude freshness and purity. Two million years ago, gigantic glaciers carved deep scars into the land, and after retreating North, left the land with cavities that became what are today the Finger Lakes. The unique glacial soils are key here, with a combination of sand, stones, and clay; the particular microclimate is as well. The Finger Lakes help protect the vines in the coldest parts of winter, as the deep water helps moderate temperature extremes, and also allows for more gradual ripening during the growing season. All of this leaves us with a deliciously complex dry Riesling with aromas & flavors ranging from citrus to peach, with even some mango. Add in a touch of petrol, and we have ourselves a winner!

New York

New York winemakers have embraced international varieties and hit the ground running. The Hudson River Valley is home to the oldest vineyards in New York State. Riesling

Though it's now cultivated worldwide, Riesling is nearly synonymous with German wine, and that country's winemakers have lately begun to produce some very exciting dry versions. They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...
