Staff Pick Notes

This Verdicchio-dominant blend is hand harvested from vineyards in Morro d'Alba, near the Adriatic coast. A crisp white wine, it is an ideal match for watching summer sunsets--though, it also does the trick when dreaming about them on cold nights. In fact, this wine has all the hallmarks of an everyday, go-to bottle. It provides versatile pairing potential at an amazing price. On the palate, Hello citrus! This wine shows lots of it--lemon, navel orange, pomelo, pink grapefruit. Underneath these bright and buoyant flavors lies even more refreshment, with slight hints of spearmint & juniper. It almost reminds me of a gin cocktail, but with the emphasis on the botanicals rather than the spirit. Stock up on this and you'll be prepared for anything, whether it's a steaming bowl of pasta or a picnic!

Verdicchio produced near the towns of Jesi and Matelica often has gently bitter notes and rich fruit, and is an excellent match for many seafood dishes. Red wines are produced here as well, with Sangiovese being the dominant red grape in the region. When blended with the local Montepulciano, it makes a wine called Rosso Piceno (mostly sangiovese) or Rosso Conero...
