Bollinger only releases vintage champagne in great years, thus the denomination Grande Année. On average 95% of the grapes come from Premier and Grands Crus villages. The wines are individually fermented in oak casks before blending and aged for a minimum of five years in the cellar under cork. Blend: 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay.

Staff Pick Notes

Bollinger is probably my personal favorite of all the Champagne Grande Marques. This is a house known for the quality of their fruit and traditional winemaking methods. This 2004 embodies much of the house's traditional power and richness, but simultaneously balances and vibrant flavors and elegance. The toasty, brioche notes are present, though the emphasis is on a deep, mature fruit set against savory, smoky minerality. Imagine a well-toasted, world class baguette, smeared with dried, aged dates, topped with a thin layer of meringue. This wine is lovely now, but will continue to age for another decade. A decadent wine to enjoy with an equally decadent meal.
