The much anticipated first release of peated single malt from this rising star in whisky is our new idyllic version for this style of whisky. Think of it as a baby Lagavulin with lush orchard fruits, rich caramels and honey and a dose of smoke and spices that are balanced out by the luxe oily texture. Even the mix of sherry and bourbon casks in the blend hits the sweet spot. Just perfect. The only drawback is how limited it is for now.

Indri has only been around for a few years, but this Indian whisky brand has already made a deep impression on the industry. It was launched by Piccadily Agro Industries in Indri, Haryana, near the Himalayan foothills in 2021 with the release of their single malt, Trini, followed by Dru,  Praise and awards followed.  Their latest release is a peated single malt called Angneya, which means "belonging to fire" in Sanskrit. This is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks  and bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, with no added color. This shows rich velvety chocolate, vanilla, baked apple, toffee, banana and mango. It's smooth and gently peated with the smoke artfully integrated. Fans of Islay scotch wanting to try something different will be well rewarded.
