Two-thirds mountains and one-third hills, it boasts highly favorable natural conditions for the cultivation of grapes. Abruzzi is most famous for its beautiful expressions of the red Montepulciano and the white Trebbiano, though many winemakers are now beginning to experiment with other grape varietals as well.
