Domaine Pellehaut sits at the top of a hill (Pellehaut comes from the Roman “pila haut”, or high point) overlooking the village of Monteal-du-Gers just outside the Bas subregion in the heart of Gascony.The estate, which dates back to the 18th century, embodies the rural history of the region: 550 hectares, many of which are planted with sunflowers or used for cattle grazing alongside old vines of Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche. The 1990 armagnac cuvee, made from 100% Ugni Blanc, is a pure expression of everything Armagnac should be. Aromas of roasted nuts, burnt caramel, dates, and baking spice give way to a palate that’s both mellow and rich, with notes of tropical fruit, maple syrup, and vanilla. Bon vacanes!
