Massenez Liqueur de Roquefort

Item # 52102 750 mL

Founded in 1870 this family distillery has long been at the heart of premium and traditional French liqueurs production - and with that expertise comes even the most perhaps unexpected creations. But maybe it shouldn't be. Roquefort is after all one of the most famous cheeses in the world and the French are fiercly proud of their rich cheese history as they should be. In practical terms - you get something here that has the unmistakable and pure aromas and flavors of the famous blue, wrapped up brilliantly in a sweeter package that tastes of verjus, honeysuckle and jasmine. The most obvious application for this spirit would be in various martinis and other gin based drinks.

Staff Pick Notes

It takes a lot to shock a roomful seasoned wine and spirits professionals; we've tasted every imaginable alcoholic-filled concoction. Doritos flavored spirits- check. Tomato liqueur- check. But the arrival of this bottle truly dropped jaws and raised eyebrows. Blue cheese liqueur? You must be joking. And yet, we're a curious lot and not ones to shy away from the edges of the liquid stratosphere. The aromas definitely shout dairy, but it's only when you take a sip that the Roquefort notes shine. It's the very essence France's famous blue cheese in liquid form, soft and smooth with a gentle sweetness and honeyed floral notes. It's utterly delicious (no pun intended) and ripe for getting creative with cocktails.

Burgundy

The range of wine styles offered in Burgundy rivals that of any other region. In Chablis, Chardonnay is left unoaked to produce lean, crisp, steely wines with incredible acidity - a far cry from the vanilla-oak bombs that so many consumers associate with this grape. Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness of a California wine, yet retain a very Burgundian, mineral-driven core and great acidity....
