Mater Blended Sugarcane Artisan Sicilian Rum - 2024

One of the last things I had on my bingo card for 2024 was Sicilian Rum Agricole... You heard that right, but here we have a newcomer to the Rum game in Mater Rum. Distilleria Alma was created in Modica in 2021 and they have made an amazing introduction to the scene with their first batches. This blend mixes the two original single cane rums they produce, yellow and purple cane, and creates a great balance that truly showcases the terroir and the unique character that can be derived from the once common sugar cane that was known to the Island in the past. With bright citrus on the palate, followed by a deeper expression of apricot and pears that leaves a distinct finish of thyme, and rosemary, this is a rum that will keep you thinking until the bottle is gone. Don't sleep on this new brand and keep an eye out for future releases!
