When it comes to the world of rum few things, if any, are as coveted as high ester, pot distilled, full proof Jamaican rums, especially when they have spent most of their time maturing in the tropical climate of their Caribbean island home. That is precisely why we selected this single cask, directly from the source, from this legendary distillery with roots dating back to at least the 1750s, Long Pond is one of the most exclusive addresses in all of rum, especially so these days as access to the facilities and their precious stock of casks has become harder to come by and more exclusive.
This specific selection of ours was made from one of the very rare and high ester marques made here with only TECC outranking it. Fermented for weeks with a mix of all the good stuff ie. - molasses, cane stalks, dunder, muck,and wild ambient yeasts, the rum has developed and refined the trademark funk that comes from rums made in this style.
Pot distilled in 1995 and aged for 23yrs! on Jamaica prior to finishing for an additional 5yrs in French Oak in Cognac, this single cask was bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.9% abv. with zero addtives. Concentrated and densely flavored the tropical dna of this rum shines more than anything with bountiful notes of ripe fruits, brown sugar, sweet tobacco, licorice root, cloves, cocoa and masala chai tea. Only 198 bottles total yield for this extremely rare gem.
