Aligoté Vieilles Vignes, Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne - 2022

Item # 51975 750 mL

Made from 60+ year old vines from Ladoix-Serrigny at the foot of the hill of the Grand Cru Corton. At the estate, La Pierre Ronde, the grapes were fermented and aged in a mix of foudre and barrel and bottled unfiltered. Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne worked at Domaine Leflaive for years and over the past 15, has made a name for himself as a specialist in Biodynamic viticulture. Needless to say, his new project, La Pierre Ronde, is a lucky find for us all.

Burgundy

The range of wine styles offered in Burgundy rivals that of any other region. Aligoté

The "other" white grape of Burgundy, Aligoté plays a struggling second fiddle to the regal white grape of the region, Chardonnay. Older Aligoté vines have been known to produce wines of high quality, displaying lovely citrusy and at times nutty characteristics - but even so, the remaining plantings of the grape are fast being uprooted to make even more space for the cultivation of Chardonnay.
