Staff Pick Notes

Stephen Bitterolf, the founder of VomBoden who imports Julian Haart's wines, has built one of the most iconic German wine portfolios in the world. Within it lies liquid gold, in this case in the form of Grand Cru Riesling at an unbelievable price. Julian Haart apprenticed with two legends of German Riesling, Egon Müller and Klaus Peter Keller. In Stephen's words, "That’s like learning to draw under da Vinci and Picasso". Julian also works with some of Germany's greatest vineyards, combining his knowledge and intuition with the unmistakable terroir of the incredibly steep vineyards overlooking the Mosel River. These sites present themselves in this very bottle, the "J.J. Kabinett". J.J. is named in honor of his Grandfather and Great Grandfather (both named “Johann Josef”), as well as his son!

They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...
