Alcohol being labeled 'Navy Strength' came from the British Royal Navy testing the proof. Gunpowder would be soaked in the alcohol and if the gunpowder still ignited that would be considered "Navy Strength". In today's terms, the ABV is around ~57%, which is a metric doozy of an ABV. Mount Gay's Navy Strength rum is a rush of a spirit. What you get is incredible mouth feel, an elegant spiciness, and a bulls charge of flavor. The best way to drink this is neat, with plenty of friends, family, or by yourself (be selfish sometimes!). You are in for a treat with Mount Gay Eclipse Navy Strength Barbados Rum.
