Staff Pick Notes

There are few things are as cooling on a hot summer day as a light bodied red served at 50 degrees. Somehow, when the cooler than expected liquid hits the palate the feeling soothes the sweat. Look to Jura Poulsard as the vehicle for this experience. The thin skinned, low yield grape produces juice that is light bodied and silky smooth. Just perfect for a forty five minute chill in the fridge. Valerie and Jean Christophe Tissot are the second generation vignerons of the estate named after their father. They farm organically and vinify naturally. They get the most out of their Poulsard as there is concentration and depth of flavor. There are notes of crushed cherries, watermelon, and subtle herbs. The acidity and minerality give the wine a cool vibrant feel. Try chewing a morsel of Jura Comte cheese and wash it down with this wine.
