A top wine at the estate based on the local Mencía grape variety. The vines are planted in crushed slate and clay-based soils planted on steep slopes at 700 meters in elevation in Arganza of the Bierzo region of northwest Spain. The grapes were hand-harvested and 70% of the grapes were destemmed and then fermented with natural yeast in concrete vats. The wine then aged for a year in large oak casks before bottling.

This is a wine that shows how power and grace can work wonderfully together. It has the structure and tannin to stand up to a hearty meal, but also a softness and elegance that suggest it is not as rich as it first appears.  Grégory Pérez studied at the Bordeaux School of Oenology and Viticulture of Blanquefort and also worked at two of the most prestigious estates within Bordeaux: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste and Château Cos d'Estournel. After these experiences, he decided to move to Bierzo and acquire vineyards in Espadillo, an isolated, mountainous area composed of slate and clay. Here the Mencía grape shines, combining pomegranate, blackberry, floral violets, and a distinctive freshness that comes from the cold mountain air and slate soils. This wine contains the estate's best fruit fermented and aged in oak foudre, and is magical!
