This red Vinho Verde might not be what you expect if you've tried the white and rosé.You might think as I did that Vinho Verde was a marketing term used to denote light white wines from Portugal and maybe they made some rosé as well. So it threw me for a loop that this red wine was both Vinho Verde and so deep and dark, while having very little tannin. My understanding of the Verde in Vinho Verde is that it refers the youth of the wine, like it should be enjoyed young when its still green and fresh and this one is a delight. Tons of blackberry fruit but not under ripe or prune, just fresh, clean and delicious.
