A dry white blend of Marsanne and Roussanne from 6 different plots from the north to the south of St. Joseph. Each plot was vinified and aged in 225L and 400L barrels (10% new), then blended before bottling. Textured and rich, this will pair well with braised salsify and chicken.

So many wineries in Europe have long and storied histories, with the winemaker being the 3rd, 5th or even 10th generation to tend the vines. This is beautiful thing. However, what you hear less of, and what I think is so impressive is someone starting from scratch, chasing the belief that with the right training and enough grit, they too can join the ranks of the greats. Julien Pilon is one such plucky newcomers (his first vintage was only in 2010, made in his parents garage) but is well on his way to becoming a star producer. His white from St. Joseph a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne and showcases what he's capable of. It's rounded and rich, yet elegant and lifted with honied peach, wet stone and a hint of oak. A wine to cellar, if you can wait, but you'll forgiven if you can't.
