Staff Pick Notes

Verdejo is right at home in Rueda D.O., especially in the hands of Carmen Blanco Martin, a woman winemaker brought on to Marques de Caceres in 2014 specifically to champion this project. And obviously she was the perfect winemaker to take on this homage to the region's continental climate and high elevation that allow the Verdejo grape to thrive - this is a great summer bottle! Fresh acidity and citrus zing on the palate make this the perfect thirst quencher as the days get warmer, and pronounced white florals and peaches elevate this to be not just another screw top for the park. This is a beautiful expression of an underrated grape that will please anyone used to asking for a "crispy Sauvy B" and is looking to expand their horizons. Pair with crispy fish tacos with cilantro avocado sauce and a squeeze of lime.

More About This Wine

Spain

Central to the Spanish winemaking philosophy is the belief that wine should be released only when it is ready to be consumed, and not a moment before. Rueda

Located just east along the Duero River from the Ribera del Duero, this region is widely known for its delicious Verdejo based white wines. Often blended with Viura and Sauvignon Blanc, these wines can range from light, floral and crisp to richly textured and powerfully aromatic. For inexpensive quaffing wines - think summertime and ceviché - one need look no further.
