There may be no single more important entrant to the Japanese Whisky category than this producer based on the outskirts of the already remote northern island of Hokkaido. No expense is spared and quality trumps everything meaning production remains extremely small and limited. But whats in the bottle proves 100% worth it. Distilled from a peated mash smoked with extremely rare local peat, the whisky has then aged a minimum of 3yrs primarily in even rare Hokkaido Mizunara casks as well as ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and red wine casks. One of the most nuanced and deeply impressive whiskies at this age we have ever tasted. The spirit expresses all the subtlies and extremes of the season it symbolizes, winter. A limited one-off release never to be duplicated.
