If you are only hopping on to this series at this midway point release, fear not, you are going to be highly rewarded with the best release to date. That should maybe go without saying as each release get's older by one year. But older doesn't always mean better. In this case it is more a testament to the quality of the Bourbon initially laid down and the excellent barrels they've been resting in since. Bottled unfiltered and at a natural barrel proof.

Founded in 2011 by long time friends Sean Josephs, Charles Fulford, and Jay Peterson, Pinhook started with a shared vision to bring a fresh take to the world of Bourbon. This 8 year old expression of 'Bourbon War' is a key member of the Vertical series.I first tasted this as a 4 year old release and was thrilled with the lively butterscotch and varnished wood notes that are a signature of this profile. Always above 110 proof and Non-chill filtered. At 8 years old this Bourbon has a developed a firm backbone and lost a bit of sweetness. Toasted nuts, Cigar Box and Autumn spices come to mind. If you are in search of a top notch, small batch Bourbon, you would be crazy not to bet on Pinhook!
