Staff Pick Notes

Vino Noble di Montepulciano - not to be confused with Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, is a red wine made from Sangiovese as the primary grape from vines surrounding the town of Montepulciano, in Tuscany. There's a rich and storied history of winemaking in this region dating back over 1000 years, including references to Montepulciano as the place "where Bacchus, when he visited Tuscany, found the grape-juice that pleased him best and crowned the wine of Montepulciano king". Made from 100% Sangiovese, organically farmed and fermented with indigenous yeast started with a "pie di cuve", Avignonese Vino Noble di Montepulciano has a subtle elegance, with rich concentration of red fruit, dried cherry and violets, with soft ripe tannin that provides a silky texture often associated with higher priced wines of this region.

Young Chianti often smells of fresh fruit and herbs, while Chianti Classico Riserva can be dark and brooding. The term “Super Tuscans”...
