This is a very pleasant Aglianico from Vulture, a beautiful area in the Basilicata region in South Italy. Aglianico is the main grape planted here. This is definitely not the most known wine region in Italy but lately it's gaining more attention: a lot of winemakers are investing in this interesting land. It consist in a plateau near the extinct volcano Vulture. Viticulture here dates back in the 6th century BC when the Greeks brought it here.The soil, because of the volcano is rich in minerals, nights are cool and days are warm: a perfect environment for vine growing. This wine mature in amphoras for 12 months and in the bottle for additional 12. You can enjoy ripe dark fruit flavors with well integrated tannins and minerality at a great affordable price!

Aglianico

Brought to Italy by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C., Aglianico enjoyed an early heyday in the ancient world as one of the key components of Falernum, a wine revered by kings and poets. After nearly being wiped out by Phylloxera in the 19th century, the grape is now experiencing a great revival in southern Italy.
