Holmes Cay Réunion Island Grand Arome Rum

A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to buy a rum bottled under the Habitation Velier line of Savanna HERR (High Ester Reunion Rum) which is to this day one of my favorite rums I've ever had. Almost 5 years later, U.S independent bottler Holmes Cay headed by Eric Kaye comes forth with the first Savanna distillate in the U.S since that HERR with this Grand Arome offering. Grand Arome style rums are high ester that under long fermentations and see distillation using column stills, typically associated with French island rums. Akin to the high ester rums from Jamaica, these flavorful spirits are a fever dream for any rum nerds out there. Think flavors of sweet fruit compote, black olives, menthol, licorice, earthy herbaceousness, and soft florals that sips dangerously easy and will pack a punch at your next cocktail party.
