Staff Pick Notes

Kelley Fox went from biochemistry to winemaking in Willamette Valley, which may seem like 2 opposite pursuits - but after speaking with Kelley about her appreciation for life on both a microscopic & grander philosophical scale it's clear her worldview allows her to explore many different fields to greater connect with the planet. She views winemaking as an outlet of relief from the human condition via the power of the earth, & as a result her wines have a sort of nervous system that pulses signals about the fruit itself, their astrological influences, & the essence of the earth they come from. Her winemaking does not impose character but rather lets the wine speak for itself. Kelley's Gruner tells us about white & green pepper spice & white peaches kissed with salt from the Pacific. Listen to the wine, it'll tell you itself what to pair.

More About This Wine

Willamette Valley

Perhaps the most familiar wine producing region in Oregon, the Willamette Valley is actually a group of distinct AVA's (American Viticultural Areas). The wines are consistent and eminently drinkable at the low end, and, on the premium side of things, full-bodied, long-lived, world-class whites.

Oregon

The largest wine region in Oregon is the Willamette Valley, lying between the cities of Portland and Eugene and home to most of Oregon’s wineries. As it does not have one homogeneous climate, it has been broken up into several different AVAs. In the best of them, the perfect amounts of wind, rain, sun exposure, and altitude combine to give Pinot Noir the warm days and cool nights it needs in order to thrive. Combine that with good drainage and poor soils, and you’ve got the perfect environment...
