Staff Pick Notes

Robin Pollard teamed up with her Life Partner, Chris Camarda of Andre Will fame, to bring us this delightful, high-elevation red blend from the Upper Yakima Valley. A Blend of Cabernet Franc (44%), Merlot (37%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (19%), this wine is fresh and bright on the palate. The vineyard is south-west facing at an elevation of 1150 feet, which produces vibrant, ripe grapes. The Cabernet Franc adds a wonderful raspberry and red cherry component with a touch of herbaceousness and tobacco leaves. The Merlot adds a plushness to the party while the Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and depth. The 20% new oak is magically integrated without dominating the fresh fruit character. Simply a delight to drink, especially with a rich bowl of beef stew.

In fact,...

Cabernet Sauvignon

The result of an illicit affair a hundred-odd years ago between Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon today enjoys more worldwide popularity than both of its parents combined. It is the principal grape of Bordeaux, and as such has rightly earned its place among the greatest and most long-lived wines of the Old World; of course, it is also the most heralded grape of California, positioning it at the forefront of the New World wine scene as well. Today, Cabernet Sauvignon has a...
