Staff Pick Notes

This wine checks a lot of boxes for me: It’s from Slovenia, and so far, every Slovenian wine I've met I’ve enjoyed immensely, and they’ve been super wallet friendly. It’s an orange wine, yet an approachable one, whose handpicked and de-stemmed Rebula grapes see about 72 hours of skin maceration which is just enough to push it into orange wine territory yet remain a super food-friendly crowd-pleaser. It’s produced by Madic Rodica, Slovenian ballroom dancer and wine negociant extraordinaire who appears to be extremely successful at both, just check out her Barbera that I also adore to see what I mean (Barbera, Pikasi item# 42546). Green apple and lemon icing dance upon the nose and palate with a plush yet deft mouthfeel that both entices and cleanses, ready for the next sip or that next bite of lobster tails poached in Thai basil ghee.
