Staff Pick Notes

The Greek word Nostos means yearning to come home and is the inspiration behind the founding of the Manousakis winery in 1993. It was then that Ted Manousakis returned to his homeland in the mountains of Crete after years of pursuing the American dream - having emigrated from Greece to the US with his family as a child. The philosophy at Manousakis is a simple belief in "carefully and organically cultivating the vines to absorb the scent filled terroir of wild herbs that are abundant in the mountains of Crete". Nostos Pink combines syrah and grenache with the indigenous Romeiko grape to offer a fresh and juicy rose' ripe with wild strawberry and cherry notes and a savory finish with delicate hints of clove, sage and thyme. Nostos Pink shows reflections of classic "provencal style" rose' with a unique herbaceous twist.

Let it never be said, however, that Shiraz and Syrah are the same thing: the region in which the grape is grown determines much about the flavor of the wine it will produce. Typically, New World Shiraz yields bigger, fruitier wines than the the peppery Syrahs...
