Since the 2008 vintage, Edmond's daughter, Anne Vatan-Foucault, has taken over winemaking and administration of the domaine, and the results continue to be spectacular. Vinification takes place in old, old barrels. Lime and grapefruit rind, caraway, musk melon, and honeydew dominate on the nose, which are mirrored on the palate. Notes of white pepper, gooseberry, and chalky alkaline punch up against a bittersweet edge, lending a slight sizzle to the faintly warm but impressively persistent finish. This wine is built for a long future in the cellar.
