Bertrand Brigandat is a first generation vigneron whose domaine, in the extreme south of Champagne, is named for his father Pierre. This Champagne is made entirely from Pinot Noir, a Blanc de Noirs. Dry on the palate with aromas of strawberries and a touch of brioche.

When I first tasted this Champagne in Andy Fisher’s French Wines course at Astor Center, I thought, hmm, this is lovely, so elegant, racy, a bit of chalky undertone lingering on a palate of pure strawberry & lemon zest, plenty of acidity making it an ideal partner for salty shellfish, but light enough to enjoy on its own, & it’s made from biodynamically farmed pinot noir by a grower-producer to boot! Not bad. Hours later, I discovered the retail price & nearly fell over. This should be everyone’s go-to blanc de noirs. Make it yours.
