An endearing champagne made from old vines Chardonnay - the plantings are from 1927 to 1986 - from two plots in the the Grand Cru villages of Avize and Oger. Alexandre Chartogne was compelled to make wine outside of his village of Merfy and has successfully made this vintage bottling from the Côte de Blancs. The soils are pure chalk. The base wine was fermented with native yeasts and then aged in old barrels for 9 months before bottling for the secondary fermentation.
